I saw the preview release of the new version of Ubuntu Linux, the Breezy Badger. You can see some features here.
Breezy Badger is great. The LTSP is included so we don't have to install and google, OEM versions in order to simplify the preinstallation, GNOME 2.12 with editable menus, configuration for a PC with "dual boot" and many other features that will help newbies.
I have read Mark Shuttleworth's interview (Linux Format of October 2005 or LFX71) and as far as I see, he really is the "Cape Town Crusader". As he says, Ubuntu is controversial. His projects are excellent and when they will be completed, all our efforts about improving Linux will surely be united and they will extend the capabilities of Linux. But, unfortunately (because I don't have much time) you must read his interview in order to understand what I am talking about.
My opinion is that Mark Shuttleworth has transformed the powerfull and maybe "scary" (for newbies, due to the too many packages) Debian Linux into a more human-friendly Linux.
And something that he says and I think we all must remember is "There's nothing an open source team can't do - except do everything"!
